Margaret Amy Plock

Harvard resident, Margaret Amy Plock, 94, passed away Monday, June 29, 2015 at Mary Lanning Memorial Hospital, Hastings.



Services will be Thursday, July 2, 2015 at 10 am at the Harvard United Church of Christ with Pastor Dave Johnson officiating. Burial will be in the Fairmont Community Cemetery, Fairmont; NE. Book signing will be Wednesday, July 1, 2015 from 6 pm to 8 pm with family present at the Harvard United Church of Christ, Harvard. Memorials may be given to the Harvard United Church of Christ or the Harvard Rescue Unit.



Margaret was born June 24, 1921 in rural York County, the daughter of Frank and Ruth (Reed) Dreier. She attended District 23 in York County and graduated from McCool Junction, she attended Doane College, York College and Kearney State College, graduating with a Bachelors Degree of Arts from the University of Nebraska, Lincoln.



She married Harold Dwight Long in 1938, having three children, Mary, Elaine and Harold, Jr. they later divorced. She remarried on May 21, 1955 to LeRoy Plock they had two children, Pamela and LeRoy Jr. They lived in Fairmont from 1945 until moving to Harvard in 1970. Margaret taught school for 35 years retiring in 1984.



She was a member of the Harvard United Church Christ, Womens Club, American Legion Auxiliary, Hoppin Sams Campers and the Hastings Area Retired Teachers.



Her hobbies and pastimes were, reading, sewing, gardening and camping.



She is survived by her children, Mary Herbek of Gilbert, AZ, Elaine Scheil of Harvard, Harold (Butch) Long and wife Elizabeth of Fairmont, NE, Pamela Schmitz and husband Paul of Huntersville, NC and LeRoy Plock and wife Rhonda of Winston-Salem, NC, 12 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren and 15 great great grandchildren, four sisters, Mildred Teaney of Aurora, Indiana, Ida Hartman of Hastings, Martha Marget of Fairmont and Norma Christian and husband Richard of McCool Junction, and many nieces and nephews.



She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband LeRoy, four brothers, August Dreier, George (Dorothy) Dreier, Richard Dreier and John Patrick (Ruth) Drommond, grandson, Roger Allen Alloway, granddaughter, Christina Plugge and great grandson, Nicholas Shearer.
