Margaret Marie Quaring

Margaret Marie (Mieth) Quaring, 93, of Grand Island, died Friday, Sept. 4, 2015, at Golden Living Center Lakeview in Grand Island.

Services will be at 11

a.m. Thursday at the Evangelical Free Church in Grand Island. The Rev. Paul Canady will officiate. Burial will be in the Mount Pleasant Cemetery in Cairo.

Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Apfel Funeral Home in Grand Island.

She was born on May 10, 1922, in the rural Bluff Center Community to Everett and Augusta (Luhn) Mieth. She was the oldest of five children.

Margaret attended rural Hall County, Bluff Center, District No. 48 and graduated from Cairo High School in 1940. She attended Kearney State College one summer and then taught in Hall County rural schools for several years and later in the Grand Island elementary schools for 15 years. She continued her education at K State and received her bachelors degree.

She married Lloyd Quaring in 1947 and they lived in Washington State until 1953, and then moved to the Cairo community to farm, and later to Grand Island. In 1979, she retired from teaching, and she and Lloyd moved to Arizona, returning to Grand Island in 1997. They moved from their private home to Primrose and later to Grandview. Lloyd passed away in 2011 after 64 years of marriage. Upon his death, Margaret moved to Prairie Winds in Doniphan, and later to Golden Living Center Lakeview in Grand Island where she died.

Survivors include one brother, Ramon Mieth, of Hebron; sisters-in-law, Carol Mieth of Cairo and Norma (Quaring) Woods of Klakmas Falls, Ore.; and nieces and nephews.

Margaret was preceded in death by her husband, Lloyd; sister and brother-in-law, Clarice and Don Wilcox; brothers, Stuart Mieth and Paul Mieth; and sister-in-law, Kathleen Mieth.

Memorials are suggested to the Gideons or the donors choice in lieu of flowers.
