Marie Jakubowski, 91, of Lincoln, formerly of Grand Island, died Sunday, April 11, 2021, at Southlake Village Care Center in Lincoln.
Funeral services will be at 10:00 AM Saturday, April 17, 2021, at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Grand Island. The Rev. Martin Egging will officiate. Burial will be in Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery.
Visitation will be Friday April 16th from 5 to 7 p.m. at Blessed Sacrament Church concluding with a 7:00 p.m. vigil service.
Memorials are suggested to Blessed Sacrament Church. Apfel Funeral Home of Grand Island is serving the family.
Marie Jakubowski was born December 5, 1929, at Loup City, NE to Laudie and Anna (Schachta) Schnase.
After attending grade school near the family farm in Loup City, they moved to Omaha where she graduated from Omaha South High School. She held secretarial positions until her marriage to Francis L Jakubowski in 1952. Marie and Francis raised their family on a farm in Hall County and then, in 1965, moved to Grand Island.
Marie was a faithful and active member of the Blessed Sacrament parish since the early 1950’s. She was involved in many aspects of church life, from the Prayer Line, to leading Bible Classes, to volunteering at Spirit Radio with her close friend Eunice. Marie also made many, many friends thru her work out of her home, as a seamstress.
She is survived by two daughters, Sharon Owen of North Platte, NE and Joyce (Rich) Ackles of Morrison, CO; three sons, Bruce Jakubowski of Denver, CO, James (Shelly) Jakubowski of Lincoln, NE and Bradley Jakubowski of Port Matilda, PA; four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and one sister, Frances Sock of Genoa, NE.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Francis (Jake) in 1982; four brothers, Frank Schnase, Edward Schnase, Paul Schnase and Fred Schnase; and three sisters, Clara Olson, Anna Krolikowski, and Helen Almgren; and a grandson, Brett Jakubowski.
