Marilyn A. Steffen, 79, of Grand Island died peacefully Sunday, May 2, 2021, at Tiffany Square Care Center in Grand Island, with family by her side.
Funeral services will be at 10:00 A.M. Saturday, May 8th at Trinity Lutheran Church in Grand Island. The Rev. Adam Snoberger will officiate. Burial will be in the Grand Island City Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 P.M. Friday at Apfel Funeral Home – Grand Island. Memorials are suggested to the family to be designated at a later date.
Marilyn Alice Steffen was born September 22, 1941, at Dannebrog, NE to Albert and Elsie (Harvey) Madsen. She grew up and received her education in Dannebrog, graduating in 1960. She attended Business College and began working in accounting.
Marilyn married Leland Steffen on July 12, 1965. The couple made their home in Grand Island and raised four children. Marilyn was employed in accounting for many years with Alvin Alms and Company, and then with Dana F. Cole and Company. She was very dedicated to her work and her clients. She continued working until her final few months at home.
She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and a lifetime member of the Saddle Club.
Marilyn’s true gift and passion in life was found in loving and taking care of others, especially her family. What she enjoyed most was spending time with her family, especially during the holidays. She was always selfless, supportive, and kind to all who knew her.
She is survived by her husband, Leland Steffen of Grand Island; two sons, Randy (Sheradan) Steffen of Omaha and Ryan (Michelle) Steffen of Grand Island; one daughter, Robyn (Calvin) Hassel of Grand Island; seven grandchildren, Rhea, Raef, Levi, Shannon, Kirk, Grant and Katie; two step-grandchildren, Chandler and Garrith; one brother, Roger Madsen of Lincoln; and two sisters, Lorraine Boltz of Grand Island and Cindy Chaparro of Arizona.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and her son, Russell Steffen.
