Marjorie Jean Sorensen (Seymour), 90 of Grand Island, died Thursday, May 28, 2015 at CHI Health, St. Francis, Grand Island, NE.

Celebration of life services will be 10:00 A.M. Tuesday, June 2, 2015 at Gollaher Chapel, Trinity United Methodist Church, Grand Island, with the Rev. Del Roper officiating. Burial will be in Grand Island City Cemetery. Visitation hours will be 4-7 P.M. Monday, June 1, 2015, at Apfel Funeral Home, Grand Island. Memorials are suggested to the family to be designated at a later date. Apfel Funeral Home is serving the family.

Marjorie Jean Seymour was born October 11, 1924 in Grand Island, Nebraska the daughter of Clarence & LaVetta (Roth) Seymour. She grew up in Grand Island receiving her education from Grand Island Public Schools graduating from Grand Island Senior High with the class of 1943.

She was united in marriage to Robert L. Bob Sorensen on February 6, 1945 in Grand Island, NE. The couple resided in Grand Island their entire married life, where Bob was the owner of Sorensens Body Shop until 1990. She was a stay at home mother, caring for her husband and their three daughters, Susan, Nancy & Janet. For a short time, she worked at the Grand Island Ordnance Plant. Marge and Bob founded the Grand Island Girls Softball A.B.C.D.D. She was a Brownie Leader, 4-H Leader, PTA member, Eastern Star, and Church Circle member. She was also a member of Trinity United Methodist Church. Bob preceded her in death October 1, 2012. She lived her entire life in Grand Island.

Marge enjoyed spending time with her family. She loved to cook, bake, and play Bingo. She was kind and thoughtful to everyone she knew or ever met. The lady with the heart of gold. No child went without something at the concession stand. She would take money out of her own pocket for them, and also gave free water to dogs.

Those left to cherish her memory include three daughters & son-in-law; Susan Graf, Janet Sorensen and Nancy & husband Frank Zavala all of Grand Island; grandchildren, Brandy King of Grand Island, Bobbi Zubia of Grand Island, Chad & wife Leigh Zavala of Bellevue, Brett Zavala of Omaha, Ali & Husband Brandon Beekman of Lincoln, & Abbs Zubia of Omaha; great grandchildren, Andy King, Lexie Zubia, Jaysa Schlund, Cade Zavala, Tessa Zavala, Addison Zavala, Brody Zavala, Easton, Paxton, & Jaxton Beekman, as well as her beloved dog, Micki.

Other survivors include her brothers & sisters-in-law, Ron & Carol Seymour of Lincoln; Mike & Kay Seymour of Edmond, OK; sister-in-law, Sue Seymour of Cash, OK; brother-in-law, Jack Sorensen of Grand Island; sister-in-law, Virginia Gerbig of Grand Island; many nieces, nephews, & cousins; a special son, Dr. John Wagner;.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her one and true love, husband, Robert L. Bob Sorensen; three brothers, Ernest Paul, Jim, & Jack Seymour; her father-in-law & mother-in-law, Carl & Christina Sorensen; sister-in-law, Jackie Sorensen; & brother-in-law, Bill Gerbig.
