Mark A. Baker, 49, of Grand Island died Friday, January 4, 2013, at his home. Memorial services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at the United Congregational Church in Grand Island. The Rev. Lonnie Logan will officiate. There will be no visitation, as cremation has taken place. Mark Allen Baker was born June 18, 1963, at Scottsbluff, Nebraska to Virgil and Carol (Haley) Baker. Mark grew up in Scottsbluff and attended Scottsbluff Public Schools, graduating from Scottsbluff High School in 1981. He then attended Doane College where he graduated in 1986. Mark owned and operated a computer consultation business, MJ Consulting. He was an avid Husker football fan, and enjoyed golf and trout fishing. He also enjoyed music, movies and time spent at the family cabin. Mark especially enjoyed the time he spent with his daughters. Mark is survived by his wife, Deb Baker of Grand Island, two daughters, Michaela and Jordan Baker both of Grand Island; one granddaughter, Gabriella; his parents, Virgil and Carol Baker of Wheatland, WY; two brothers and a sister-in-law, Russell and Pam Baker of Holdrege, NE and Greg Baker of Scottsbluff, NE; and eleven nieces and nephews. Memorials are suggested to the American Diabetes Association.
