Mark A. Saldecki

Mark A. The Decki Saldecki, 51, of Grand Island died Wednesday, November 18, 2015 at his home.

A celebration of Marks life will be held at 10:00 A.M. Wednesday, November 25th at the Bosselman Conference Center in the Heartland Event Center Grand Island. Derek Apfel will officiate.

According to Marks wishes, cremation has taken place. The family will greet friends beginning at 9:00 A.M. Wednesday up until service time at the Bosselman Conference Center.

Apfel Funeral Home is assisting the family.

Mark Anthony Saldecki was born May 28, 1964, at Rockford, Illinois to Edward James and Barbara Jean (Dixon) Saldecki. He grew up in Belvedere, Illinois and Grand Island, Nebraska, receiving his education in the Grand Island Public Schools and graduating from Grand Island Senior High School in 1982.

Mark continued his education at the Brown Institute of Broadcasting in Minneapolis, MN, where he received his degree in broadcasting. Mark lived and worked in Illinois, California, New Mexico, Colorado, Arizona and back to Nebraska. He was employed by GI Family Radio and BIG Premiere Limousines. He had also worked at KSYZ Radio, Wal-Mart South and a local furniture store.

Marks first love was horse racing, along with making people laugh, whether it be on the air, at the track or at Shots Lounge. He cherished the time he spent with his daughters, and grandchildren. He also enjoyed the company of Ellie the dog, and his nephews, Branden and Tyler Saldecki. Survivors include two daughters, Nicole Saldecki of Arizona and Lindsey Saldecki of Grand Island; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Michael and Christine Saldecki of Grand Island, and Dave Saldecki of Rockford, IL; one step-sister, Kelly Saldecki (Morse) of Illinois; and numerous friends.

Mark was preceded in death by his parents.
