Martha E. Buettner, 79, of Alda died Monday, September 10, 2012 at Wedgewood Care Center in Grand Island. Marthas family will be hosting a gathering of friends and family on Friday evening, September 14, 2012 from 4 to 7 pm at Apfel Funeral Home in Grand Island. As per Marthas wishes, her body was cremated. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the family to designate at a later time. Apfel Funeral Home is serving the family. Martha was born on September 1, 1933 in Hardin, Missouri, the daughter of Earl and Tempe (Whitney) Lindley. She lived on a farm in Missouri until her family moved to Ogallala in 1949. She attended school at Ogallala Public Schools. Martha was united in marriage to Allen Buettner on October 11, 1951 in Gering, Nebraska. The couple lived in Alda for the rest of their lives. Martha worked at St. Francis Medical Center in Grand Island for over 35 years. She also worked for Dr. Mongeau, Younkers, and at the Wood River Country Club for over 13 years. Martha was a member of St. Pauls Lutheran Church, taught Sunday School at St. Pauls Lutheran Church, was a 4-H leader, was Vice President of the Ladies Association at the Platt Duetsche, and Chairman of the Ladies Golf Association at the Wood River Country Club. She is survived by two sons; Gary Buettner and special friend Deb Ziola of Grand Island, and Randy and wife Caroline Buettner of Grand Island, two daughters; Sharon and husband Mark Hemmingsen of Grand Island and Diana Buettner of Dallas, TX, eleven grandchildren; Tennile Hemmingsen, Meghan Penas, Trevor Hemmingsen, Brett Buettner, Brady Buettner, Amber Lenstrom, Ashley Lenstrom, Burgandy Omar, Breanna Buettner, Brittany Buettner, and Briggette Buettner, four great-grandchildren; Eric Omar Jr., Logan Omar, Talon Hemmingsen, and Colton Penas, her special friend Clifford Ostrander, and her brother Louis Lindley of St. Joseph, Missouri. She was preceded in death by her husband Allen Buettner and a grandson Jeremy Hemmingsen.
