July 23, 1926 — September 5, 2019

Omaha resident, Marvin C. Kent, 93, passed away, Thursday, September 5, 2019 at CHI Creighton University Medical Center, Omaha, NE.



Services will be Tuesday, September 10, 2019 at 11 AM at First St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Hastings with Rev. Joel Remmers officiating, visitation will be one hour before service time at the church. Burial will be in Parkview Cemetery with military rights by the Hastings Veterans Association. Condolences may be sent to the family from www.apfelfuneralhome.com. Apfel Funeral Home, Hastings is in care of the family.



Memorials may be given to First St. Paul’s Lutheran Church Foundation, Hastings.



Marvin was born July 23, 1926 to George and Nellie (Searl) Kent in Hastings, NE. He graduated from Hastings High School in 1944. Marvin served in the United States Navy, from July 15, 1944 to June 8, 1946. He married Dorothy A. Peterson in 1947 in Kiron, Iowa, they had lived in Hastings for 61 years before moving to Omaha, Dorothy passed away September 7, 2012. Marvin had worked for Hastings Schools as Plant Engineer-Electrician for 35 years. He enjoyed the last of his years in Omaha with his daughters and their families.



Marvin was a member of First St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Hastings and the Lutheran of the Master, Omaha, He played cards twice a week which was his greatest enjoyment. He also enjoyed traveling, camping and gardening.



He is survived by 4 daughters, Cynthia (Red) Spiehs, Rebecca Kent, Marsha (Dave) Stuva and Sandra (Steve) Gebers all of Omaha, 9 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren and two brothers, Robert Kent of Hastings and Clayton Kent of Seward.



He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife of 65 years Dorothy, a granddaughter, Lisa Spiehs, and great grandson, Tre Garst, two sisters, and three brothers.
