Hastings resident, Mary Ann Batterman, 82, passed away Wednesday, October 22, 2014 at Mary Lanning Memorial Hospital, Hastings.

Visitation will be Sunday, October 26, 2014 from 2 pm up till rosary time at 5 pm in the Apfel Funeral Home Chapel, Hastings, the family will greet friends and family from 4 pm to 5 pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be Monday, October 27, 2014 at 10:30 am at St. Michaels Catholic Church, Hastings, NE with Father Michael Houlihan officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens, Hastings. Condolences may be sent to the family from www.apfelfuneralhome.com. Apfel Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Memorials may be given to the familys choice in Marys memory.

Mary was born October 7, 1932 to John and Mary (Wewel) Miksch in Stuart, NE. She married Gerald Batterman on August 25, 1956 in Hastings, NE.

Mary had worked at Wheelers, Jahnkes and retired from Walmart on April 2009.

She was a member and past president of St. Cecilias Altar Society, member of Walmart Red Hats Club, and of farm neighbor Ladies Club.

Mary was a pie maker extordinaire, enjoyed gardening, canning and playing pitch. She was a hard working lady who greatly enjoyed time with her family and grandchildren. She always had a smile on her face.

She is survived by her husband Gerald of Hastings, three daughters, Sheryl Batterman of Belgrade, MT, Julie (Norman) Woodhead of Hastings, and Janet (Don) Brockman of Grand Island, NE, one son, Dale Batterman of Hastings, four grandchildren, Hannah (Alex) Quinn of Hastings, Drew (Sara) Scott of Hastings, Levi (Nina) Woodhead of Lincoln and Emma (Vanessa) Scott of Hastings, two great grandsons, Ayden and Ethen Scott of Hastings, two sisters, Anna Bott of Hastings and Lorene Trausch of Roseland, two brothers, Martin (Marilyn) Miksch and Bob (Phyllis) Miksch of Stewart, a brother in law Bob (Kathy) Batterman of Lincoln and a sister in law, Leola Batterman of Salina, KS.

She was preceded in death by her parents and three sisters, Gertrude Bott, Helen Schauntz and Delores Malone.
