Mary Ann Caddy, 96 of McPherson, Kansas formerly of Grand Island, Nebraska, died Wednesday, November 12, 2014 at The Cedars House in McPherson, Kansas.
Mass of the Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, November 18, 2014, at St. Marys Cathedral, Grand Island. Visitation hours will be 4-6 p.m., Monday, November 17, 2014 at the Apfel Funeral Home with a Catholic Daughters Rosary recited at 4:00 p.m. and a parish Rosary to be recited at 6:00 p.m. at the Apfel Funeral Home. Memorials are suggested to St. Marys Cathedral or the American Red Cross. Apfel Funeral Home is assisting the family.
Mary Ann Caddy was born July 17, 1918, at Primrose, Nebraska the daughter of Phil & Josephine (Klassen) Eiche. She graduated from Arcadia High School and attended the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. She taught school for five years in Sherman County.
She was united in marriage to Clarence Caddy, August 9, 1941 in Three Oaks, Michigan. The couple made their home near Loup City where they farmed for 24 years. Later they moved to Grand Island where she was employed by Saint Francis Hospital. She retired from the hospital after have worked there for 30 years. She enjoyed traveling and visiting many foreign countries along with sewing.
She was a member of St. Marys Cathedral, Catholic Daughters, Eagles Lodge and the St. Francis Auxiliary. She volunteered at St. Francis Hospital, Central Catholic High School, where she served on the Board of Trustees for three years, Red Cross Bloodmobile and St. Marys Cathedral.
Those left to cherish her memory include two daughters and a son-in-law, Lea Ann Bieber of Riverside, California, and Mary Jo and Jim Rogers of Moundridge, Kansas, one daughter-in-law, Maureen Caddy of Gretna, Nebraska, nine grandchildren, four step grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, two step great grandchildren, one brother, Phillip Eiche of Apalachin, New York.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Clarence; daughter, Kathy; and son Max; two sisters, Wilhelmina Eiche, Monica Kaminski.
