Mary Ann Purdie

Mary Ann (Lawrence) Purdie, 42, of Grand Island passed away on Thursday, November 26, 2020, from natural causes at her home, with her husband of 10 years, Steve Purdie who is left to mourn her loss.



Mary Ann was born October 30, 1978, to Debra Sue (Ueckert) and John Lewis Lawrence, Jr. She was their only child.



She attended school in Grand Island, graduated from Grand Island Senior High in 1997, completed all programs at Goodwill Industries and made her home predominantly in Grand Island, working for a short time.



Mary was a wife, daughter, niece, cousin, friend and biological mother of five children whom she loved dearly, Jasmine, Starr, Angel (Ellie) John and Kelie.



Services to celebrate her life will be at 1:30 P.M. Wednesday, December 9, 2020, at the Apfel Funeral Home in Grand Island. Mrs. Purdie’s body was cremated. Family will greet friends prior to the service. Inurnment will be in the Grand Island City Cemetery.



She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Meta and John Lawrence, Sr.; Ardis and Alton ‘Tony’ Ueckert; numerous aunts, uncles and her mother Debbie Sue (Ueckert) Lawrence in 1988.



She is survived by her husband, Steve Purdie of Grand Island; her father John Lawrence of Kearney; aunts, Linda (Denny) Neemeyer of Kearney and Georgia Ueckert of Grand Island; uncle, Chick (Gladys) Lawrence of California; numerous cousins, in-laws, her five children and two grandsons.



Due to Covid 19 restrictions, the maximum number of attendees will be limited to 50 people. Masks will be required and social distancing will be practiced.



Memorials in her name are suggested to the family to offset funeral expenses and may be sent to 510 West Charles Street, Grand Island, NE 68801.
