Mary Elaine Wilson

June 23, 1926 — October 14, 2015

Mary Elaine Wilson, 89 of Grand Island, entered into eternal rest Wednesday October 14, 2015 at the Good Samaritan Society in Wood River.

Memorial Services will be 10:30 A.M. on Saturday, November 28, 2015 at Lincoln Memorial Funeral Home Chapel in Lincoln, Nebraska. Pastor Darryl Holzinger will be officiating. Inurnment will be at Lincoln Memorial Park. Private Family Services are being held at Apfel Funeral Home in Grand Island. Memorials are suggested to the family in lieu of flowers.

Mary Elaine Wilson was born June 23, 1926 in Lincoln, Nebraska the daughter of Robert & Mary Olive (Richardson) Kellett. She grew up in Crab Orchard, Nebraska graduating from Crab Orchard High School with the class of 1941 at the age of 15.

She was united in marriage to Samuel Woodrow Wilson on February 24, 1945 at Grosse Isle Naval Base in Michigan. The couple made their home on a farm in Filley, Nebraska, later moving to Memphis, Firth and then to Grand Island in 1971.

She was a member of the Methodist Faith, Order of the Eastern Star, VFW and Legion Auxiliary. She enjoyed gardening, sewing, quilting, reading and playing the piano and accordion. She also loved to travel.

Those left to cherish her memory include daughters and sons-in-law, Cherie & Harlan Metschke of Papillion, Becky & Rodger Mettenbrink of Grand Island, Tracy & Brian Frevert of Omaha; son and daughter-in-law, Wayne & Debbie Wilson of Lincoln; 10 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; infant son, Curtis Vance Wilson; brother, Robert Quentin Kellett.
