Hastings resident, Mary "Leone" Mikulas, 95 died, Wednesday, June 14, 2006, at Perkins Pavilion, GSV. Services will be Monday, at 10:30 at the First United Methodist Church, Jones Chapel, with the Rev. Dr. William Deahl officiating. Burial will be in Parkview Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday, 12 noon to 9 PM and uptil service time at the Chapel. Condolences may be sent to the family from www.brandwilson.com. Mrs. Mikulas was born July 8, 1910 to George and Eva (Hedrick) Ohler, on a farm near Butler, Oklahoma. She moved to Nebraska with her parents at the age of 18 months old. She attended a rural school thru 8th grade and graduated from DeWitt High School, Dewitt, NE in 1928. She took a course in Normal Training and after passing 17 state exams she received her 3rd grade Elementary Certificate. She taught rural schools for 3 years. Then she attended Peru State College and received her 2 year diploma in 1933. In January 1934 she served as an assistant to the County Superintendent in Saline County. After 6 years she moved to Lincoln where she was employed by Bankers Life Insurance Company of NE. On July 14th, 1943 she married Joseph F. Mikulas at the First United Methodist Church, in Hastings, NE he died July 27, 1967. She worked 3 years for the city Gas Dept, as a billing clerk and Cashier. Later working at Dutton Lainson as a Billing Clerk. In November 1948 she worked as a cashier and secretary at the Foote Clinic. She retired in 1969. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, the First United Methodist Women where she served as treasurer and the auditing committee. She was a member of the Business Women's and Professional Club, American Red Cross, Daughters of the Nile, and the Woman's Bowling League where she served as treasurer. The Acacia Chapter #39 the Order of the Eastern Star. For health reasons on July 26, 1991 she moved to Villa Grace Nursing Home at Good Samaritan Village. She is survived by a host of friends. She is preceded in death by her husband, parents and sister. Memorials may be given to the First United Methodist Church, Hastings, NE.
