August 16, 1956 — June 18, 2012

Hastings resident, Matt Trobaugh, 55, passed away Monday, June 18, 2012 at his home. Services will be Friday, June 22, 2012 at 11 am at the North Shore Assembly of God Church, in Hastings, NE with Pastor Chris Johnson officiating. Burial will be at a later date. Book signing will be Thursday, June 21, 2012 from 9 am to 8 pm at the Brand-Wilson Funeral Home, Hastings, NE. Condolences may be sent to the family from www.brandwilson.com. Memorials, in lieu of flowers, to the family. Matt was born in Hastings, NE on August 16, 1956 to John F. and Victoria A. (Griess) Trobaugh. After playing football and wrestling for four years he graduated from Hastings Senior High School in May of 1974. He attended Kearney State College from 1974-1977 on a wrestling scholarship where he went to Nationals twice. He was a Contractor by trade and most recently a caregiver for the disabled with Nebraska DHHS. He married Debra Molineux in Clay Center, NE. He was a monumental force in the power lifting and strength fitness realm. He developed many lasting friendships and pioneered teams who will continue to train strong in his memory. Matt and Deb have voluntarily coached the Hastings area Special Olympics power lifting team for the past twenty years including Cornhusker State Games and national and world competitions. He is survived by his wife, Debbie; daughter, Shaunna Molineux of Wahoo, NE; brothers: Mike Trobaugh, and wife Barb, of Rapid City, SD and Mark Trobaugh, and Jennifer West of Lincoln, NE; BFAM: Kelly Weseman of Hastings; grandsons: Zac Golter of Seward, NE; Cameron Golter who is enlisted in the USMC in San Diego, CA, and Jared West of Wahoo, NE; nieces: Michelle Terwey, Abby Trobaugh, Molly Schofield, Kasey Panhuise, and; nephews: Dylan Trobaugh, Jason Wilmus and Cailus Trobaugh; beloved cousin: Rollie Griess, Hastings; numerous aunts, uncles, great nieces and great nephews, cousins and many truly loved and incredible friends. He was preceded in death by his mother and father; granddaughter, Gabriella Graham; and most recently departed lifelong friends Rick Hussey and Dale Ocker.
