Maxine Lewandowski, 80 of Giltner passed away Friday February 17, 2017 at her residence. Mass of Christian Burial will be Tuesday February 21, 2017 at 10:30 AM at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Giltner with Fr. Dhan Raj Marneni as celebrant. Interment will follow at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 until 7 PM on Monday with a 7:00 PM rosary at Apfel Funeral Home in Grand Island. Memorials are suggested to the family for future designation.
Maxine Kathryn Lewandowski was born May 8, 1936 to Ed and Anna (Zulkoski) Spotanski at Loup City, NE. She attended Loup City Public School. Maxine was united in marriage to Don Lewandowski on August 17, 1957 at Loup City; then moved to Phillips where Don worked as a hired hand for Hinzeman; and later moved to Aurora where Don was employed by Kansas Nebraska Gas Company; and then to Giltner where Don was employed by Pioneer Hybrids. Maxine was employed by the Midtown Holiday Inn; she also ran a day care in her home and was a wedding coordinator as well as Dons right hand lady on the farm. She was a member of St. Marys Catholic Church in Aurora and St. Joseph Catholic Church in Giltner.
Those left to cherish her memory include her husband, Don Lewandowski; sons, Tom Lewandowski and Rex (Amy) Lewandowski; and her daughter, Joyce (Larry) Klein; 8 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren and sisters, Adeline (Archie) Dzingle and Louise (Vern) Vodehnal. She was preceded in death by her sister, Alvina Jonak and her parents, Edwin and Anna Spotanski.
