At our Jackson-Wilson Funeral Home, Kenesaw, NE. Kenesaw resident, Melvin Donnell Ramsey, 78 passed away Wednesday, March 17, 2010 at Bryan LGH West Hospital, Lincoln, NE. Services will be Saturday, March 20, 2010 at 10:30 AM at the Brand-Wilson Funeral Home Chapel, Hastings, NE with the Rev. Brad Jepsen officiating. Burial will be in the Kenesaw Cemetery, Kenesaw, NE with military rites. Visitation will be Friday, March 19, 2010 from 9 AM to 9 PM with the family present from 5 PM to 7 PM at the Jackson-Wilson Funeral Home, Kenesaw, NE. Melvin Donnell was born June 20, 1931 to Virgil and Esther (Young) Ramsey in Heartwell, NE. He graduated from Shelton High School in Shelton, NE. He married Barbara Jean Sheen on December 2, 1951 at the First Christian Church in Kearney, NE. He enlisted and served in the United States Navy on February 11, 1952 and was stationed in San Diego, CA. He was discharged on February 10, 1956, his rank was D.T. 3rd class. After his return he farmed the rest of his life. He is survived by his wife Barbara Jean of Kenesaw, NE, 1 daughter, Michelle Blessin and husband Russ of Greenwood, NE, and 1 son Myles Ramsey and wife Mary of Kenesaw, NE, 5 grandchildren, Tyler, Andy, Melissa, Jenae and Teryn and 1 great grandchild, Trinity, and 3 sisters, Betty Godfrey of Seattle, WA, Nedra Blue of Grand Island, NE and Lila Colvin and husband Lance of Kirkland, WA. Memorials may be given to the American Diabetes Association.
