Michael Charles Mahan

Michael "Mike" C. Mahan, 43 of Grand Island, died Thursday, June 9, 2016 at his home.



Services will be 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, June 14, 2016 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints with Bishop Jared Noorlander officiating. Burial will be in Tilden, Illinois. Visitation hours will be 4-7 p.m. Monday, June 13, 2016 at the church. Memorials are suggested to the family in lieu of flowers. Apfel Funeral Home is caring for the family.



Michael was born May 1, 1973 in Sparta, Illinois the son of Lindel Ray & Charlene Marie (Joiner) Mahan. He grew up in Sparta & Belle Rive, Illinois.



He was united in Eternal Marriage to Melora L. Callahan, June 28, 1997 in the St. Louis, Missouri Temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Town & Country, MO. The couple made their home in Sparta, Illinois. They later moved to Lawrence, Kansas, Jackson, Missouri, and most recently Grand Island where he was employed by Red Lobster until his health declined.



He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.



He loved cooking, baking bread and recently took up woodworking.



Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Melora Mahan, son, Noah Mahan, of Grand Island, three daughters, Brette Mahan of Benton, IL, Hailey Mahan and, Nancy Mahan both of Grand Island, his mother, Charlene Mahan and brother Rick Zander and wife Sherry Zander both of Sparta, IL, and sister, Linda Cahoon and husband Scott Cahoon both of Bluford, IL.



He was preceded in death by his father, Lindell "Dick" Ray Mahan, Paternal Grandparents, Arthur and Nancy E. Mahan, of Pontiac, MO, Maternal Grandparents Walker and Bebe Joiner of Sparta, IL.
