Michael "Mike" Mack, Sr

Michael Mike James Mack, Sr., 71 of Archer, NE, died Sunday, August 27, 2017 at his home surrounded by his family.

Services will be 10:30 A.M. Thursday, August 31, 2017 at Apfel Funeral Home in Grand Island. Interment will be in the Grand Island City Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5-7 P.M. Wednesday at Apfel Funeral Home in Grand Island. Memorials are suggested to the family to be designated at a later date, in lieu of flowers.

Mike was born on August 12, 1946 to George and Alice Ruth (Egan) Mack in Grand Island. He grew up in Grand Island and graduated from Northwest High School. He served in the U.S. Army, serving in Vietnam. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, raising dogs, and outdoor activities. He also enjoyed visiting with friends and playing cards (especially Uno). His greatest joy was spending time with grandchildren and family!

He was united in marriage to Joan Brouwer on April 27, 1966. To this union, six children were born: Mike (Sherry) Mack - grandchildren: Dane, Blake and great-grandchild, Zaiden; Brenda Clark - grandchildren: RandiLee Bubba and Tyler; Troy (Amber) Mack - grandchildren: Derek, Nicholas, and Jacob; James Mack - grandchildren: Dustin, Matthew, Timothy, Destinee and great-grandchild, Lyric; Kevin (Jen) Mack - grandchildren: Dayton, Bryson, Alexis, Elijah, Kelsi, and Emily; Melissa (Keith) Lile - grandchildren: Jasmyne and Morgan.

On August 21, 1981, he married Cindy Marie Sharp and recently celebrated their 36th wedding anniversary. To this union, one child was born: Traci Anne (Clay) Payer - grandchildren: Catherine Catie, Clara and a new arrival of a grandchild in November. He was also survived by siblings - sisters, Helen Mack and Paddi Mack; brothers, William Mack and Mark (Linda) Mack. Brother-in-law, Doug Sharp, numerous nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews as well as by his dear to heart daughters, the Stander girls and Cynthia Kunze.

He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Georgene and brother-in-law Mike Clingerman, sister-in-law Victoria Mack, mother-in-law and father-in-law Lavonne and Irvin Sharp, and sister-in-law Cathy (Sharp) Arehart.
