Michael Ray Pipes

Michael Ray Pipes, 57, of Grand Island died Tuesday, Sept. 6, 2016 at CHI St. Francis Health in Grand Island.



Memorial services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 13, 2016 at Apfel Funeral Home in Grand Island. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday at Apfel Funeral Home. Memorials are suggested to the family.



Michael was born on July 27, 1959 in Grand Island to Lawrence and Laura B. (Bolts) Pipes. He grew up in Merrick County and received his education in Central City. He entered the U.S. Marines in 1977. He was honorably discharged in 1980. He was united in marriage to Jacquelyn Hurst. The couple later divorced.



He worked for Chief Automotive for more than 35 years, and was a partner of Rouge Manufacturing in Grand Island. He enjoyed Issac Walton, hunting, fishing, cooking and the outdoors. When he was young, he enjoyed working on cars. He supported the NRA, Arbor Day Foundation and the American Red Cross.



Survivors include his daughters, Mackinzie and Jennifer; mother, Laura; sisters, Pamela Ann Weathers and Tammy Pipes; and seven grandchildren.



He was preceded in death by his father, Lawrence Pipes; grandparents; uncles and aunts.
