Millie Shurigar Burr

Hastings resident, Millie (Shurigar) Burr, 83 passed away Thursday, October 25, 2013 at Mary Lanning Memorial Hospital, Hastings, NE. Services will be Tuesday, October 29, 2013 at 10:30 am at the Kenesaw United Methodist Church with Pastor Beth Fotinos officiating. Book signing will be Monday, October 28, 2013 from 12 noon to 8 pm with the family present from 5 pm to 7 pm at the Apfel Funeral Home, Kenesaw. Burial will be in the Kenesaw Cemetery, Kenesaw. Arrangements by the Apfel Funeral Home, Kenesaw. Memorials may be given to the Presbyterian Church, Kenesaw. Millie was born April 21, 1930 to Charles and Leona (Herriges) Severance in Plaza, ND. She graduated from the Parshall, ND High School in 1948. She received her normal teaching certification and taught school in North Dakota. Later she was a med. Aide at the Regional Center, Hastings, and owned and operated Millies Caf(c) in Kenesaw, she also had worked as a school cook and bookkeeper. Millie was a housewife and farm wife. She married Marion Shurigar on September 23, 1952 he passed away March 23, 2000. She married Duane Burr on September 3, 2006. Millie loved to do sewing and crafts and cooking for her loved ones. She was a member of the Kenesaw Legion Auxillary, Kenesaw Red Hatters, Kenesaw Quilting Club, Tuesday Coffee Crowd, Kenesaw Presbyterian Church and the Kenesaw Bible Study. She is survived by her husband Duane of Hastings, one daughter Kathy Hoffmann (Blaine Murray) of Kenesaw, one granddaughter, Shelby (Eldon) Rhodes of Juniata, one great granddaughter, Erikka Rhodes of Juniata, two Chihuahuas Lily and Lucky, two step grandchildren, David (Lindsay) Murray and Kristi (Payton) Merideth, step great grandchildren, Cassidy and Davin Murray, Payton Jr., Taylor, Asher and Hunter Merideth, two step daughters, Nancy (Kent) Kincanon of Grand Island, Sally (Eric) Sadlo of Bloomington, IL, step grandchildren, Tyler (Karen) Sadlo, Haley Sadlo, Abby Kincanon and Betsy Kincanon, one brother, Bud Severance of New Town, ND, two sisters, Myrtle (Arvel) Woessner of Williston, ND and Violet (Carl) Rowell of Rockford, IL one brother in-law, Frank (Shirley) Shurigar of Kenesaw, one sister in law, Mary Lee Shurigar of Green Valley, AZ and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, first husband Marion, four brothers, Clayton (Olga) Severance, Leon (Roxie) Severance, Raymond Severance and Leonard Severance, five brother-in-laws, Dave (Nyla) Shurigar, Ivan (Jack) Shurigar, Bob Shurigar, Ed (Betty Schneider) Shurigar, Wilson (Mary) Shurigar and one sister-in-law Dorothy Hall.
