Neale M. Wells, 91, of Grand Island died Wednesday, February 23, 2022, at CHI Health St. Francis in Grand Island.
Funeral services will be 10:30 AM on Monday February 28, 2022, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Grand Island. The Rev. Adam Snoberger will officiate. Burial will be in Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 PM Sunday at Apfel Funeral Home – Grand Island. Memorials are suggested to Trinity Lutheran Church.
Neale M. Wells was born August 21, 1930, at Horace, NE in Greeley County to Melvin and Fern (Johnson) Wells. He moved with his family to Grand Island in 1935 and received his education in the Grand Island Public Schools, graduating from Grand Island Senior High School in 1949.
Neale married Carol Liebsack on September 23, 1951, at Pilgrim Congregational Church in Grand Island. They made their home in Grand Island.
Neale worked as a delivery driver for Fairmont Dairy which became Fairacres Dairy, and later became Roberts Dairy. He retired from that position in 1993.
He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, the Hall County Sheriff’s Posse and Pine Ridge Riders. Neale enjoyed hunting, fishing, watching baseball and vacationing at Estes Park, CO. In his youth he played American Legion baseball and as a young adult played semi-pro baseball.
He is survived by his daughter, Susan (Don) Vigil of Black Forest, CO, son, Jay (Tami) Wells of Fort Calhoun, NE; grandchildren, Misty Dent, Stephanie Stoner, Jessica (Ben) Worrell, Rianna Wells and Raegen Wells; and great grandchildren, Wills and Evie Worrell; step-grandchildren, Donnie (Elke) Vigil of Aurora, CO, Wendy (Chad) Maldanado of Pueblo, CO, Kristie (Aaron) Phillips of Pueblo, CO and Rene Wilkes of Colorado Springs, CO; and six step-greatgrandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Carol; daughter, Lori Olesen; brothers, Bob and Gene Wells; and sister, Janis Wells.
