Nellie M. McMillon, 94, of Grand Island died Tuesday April 2, 2019, at Lebensraum in Grand Island.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 A.M. Saturday, April 13, 2019, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 212 W. 22nd Street, Grand Island. Bishop Duane Fuller will officiate. Burial will take place at a later date in the Florida National Cemetery at Bushnell, FL.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 P.M. Friday, April 12th, at the Apfel Funeral Home in Grand Island.
Nellie Mae McMillon was born February 25, 1925, at Orville, Alabama to Henry and Estella (Satterwhite) Wells. She grew up in Camden, AL and received her education at Wilcox Central High School.
Nellie was united in marriage to Charlie D. McMillon on May 6, 1973, at Hastings, NE. The couple made their home in Melbourne, Florida. Following Mr. McMillon’s death in 2005, Nellie retired to Grand Island to be near her family.
She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, the Relief Society and the American Legion Auxiliary – St. Paul, NE for 49 years.
Survivors include two sons, Jack McMillon of St. Libory, NE and Junious Matthews of Pennsylvania; two daughters, Annie Matthews of Missouri and Dorothy Pruit of California; 12 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Charlie D. McMillon; two brothers, David Wells, Sr. and Earnest Wells; daughter, Tina McMillon and two infant children.
