Former Hastings resident, Neola (Kate) G. Einspahr, 98, passed away Saturday, January 23, 2016 at CHI Good Samaritan Hospital, Kearney, NE.
Services will be Thursday, January 28, 2016 at 10:30 am at First St. Pauls Lutheran Church, Hastings with Rev. Joel Remmers officiating. Burial will be in the Wanda Cemetery, near Juniata. Visitation will beWednesday, January 27, 2016 from 9 am to 8 pm with family present from 6pm 8pm at the Apfel Funeral Home, Hastings. Apfel Funeral Home, Hastings is in charge of the arrangements. Neola was born December 1, 1917 to Daniel and Amanda (Roeder) Einspahr at home on a farm near Kenesaw. She was baptized in her home December 16, 1917 by Rev. A.W.Wilk.
At four years of age her mother Amanda died and she went to live with her Uncle Fred and Aunt Louise Roeder. She attended kindergarten at District 44 then went to Zion Lutheran School in Wanda Township, Juniata. She was confirmed March 20, 1930 by Rev. A. W. Wilk.
Neola was united in marriage to Palmer Einspahr on February 24, 1940 by Rev. A. W. Wilk. They lived on a farm near Doniphan, NE and attended church at St. Pauls Lutheran Church in Doniphan until December 1966 when they moved to Holstein. In Holstein she was a member of the St. Pauls Lutheran Church and the church custodian for 30 years. She was also the school cook for Holstein Public School for 17 years. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary in Holstein. After her husband died in 1993, she moved to Minden in August 1997. She sold her home in Minden in July 2005 and moved to Hastings to Good Samaritan Society, living there for almost 6 years.
She is survived by three children, Donna Kerr of Hastings, Darrell and wife Rojean Einspahr of North Platte and Delaine and husband Timothy Loewenstein of Kearney, one niece Diane and husband Wayne Kollar of Troy, MO, one brother, Lyle Roeder of Mesa, AZ, 9 grandchildren, 1 step grandchild, 20 great grandchildren and 7 step great great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Palmer, 1 sister, 4 half-brothers, 2 step sisters and 1 step brother.
