Norman C. Hadenfeldt

December 27, 1919 — January 8, 2015

Norman C. Hadenfeldt, 95 of Cairo, died Thursday, January 8, 2015 at CHI Health St. Francis, Grand Island, NE.



Services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, January 13, 2015 at Christ Lutheran Church, Cairo, Nebraska with the Rev. James Fandrey officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, Cairo. Visitation hours will be 4-7 p.m. Monday at the church. Memorials are suggested to Cairo Fire Department or Christ Lutheran Church of Cairo. Apfel Funeral Home is serving the family.



Norman Carl Hadenfeldt was born December 27, 1919, in Shelton, Nebraska the son of William & Minnie (Baade) Hadenfeldt. He grew up north of Cairo. Norman attended District 9 School and graduated from Cairo High School in 1939.



He moved to California after graduation to work in an aircraft factory. Norman was united in marriage to Dylece E. McLeod, February 15, 1941 at San Diego, California. The couple made their home in Cairo where he farmed. Mrs. Hadenfeldt preceded him in death, November 22, 2012.



Norman was a member of Christ Lutheran Church in Cairo. He was a charter member of the Cairo Rural Fire Board and the Cairo Athletic Association. He coached and played baseball, bowled and shelled corn for many years. He was an avid fan of Centura athletics. Norman especially enjoyed the company of his dog, Dannie.



Those left to cherish his memory include two sons and a daughter-in-law, Norman Richard & Jan Hadenfeldt of Dannebrog, Lester Howard (Fries) Hadenfeldt of Sonora, California, three daughters and two sons-in-law, Joan Ellen Larson of Madison, Wisconsin, Roberta Lynn & Steve Larson of Inkom, Idaho and Dianne Lynn (Fries) & Jeff Berger of Surprise, Arizona; one brother Allen Bob Hadenfeldt of Cairo. Also surviving are nine grandchildren; five great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.



He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Dylece Hadenfeldt, one sister, Mildred Jacobsen, three brothers, Harvey, Howard and Everett; and one grandson, Mark Lessig.
