Olive R. Murray

Olive R. Murray, 77, of Shelton died Friday, October 5, 2012 at her home in Shelton surrounded by her family. Services will be at 10:30 am on Wednesday, October 10, 2012 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Shelton with Rev. James Janovec officiating. Burial will be at St. Josephs Catholic Cemetery in York at 3:00 pm. Visitation will be on Tuesday evening from 5 to 7 pm with a 7 pm Rosary Service at the church in Shelton. Memorials are suggested to Health Connect At Home Hospice. Apfel Funeral Home of Wood River is serving the family. Olive was born on February 2, 1935 in Seneca, Kansas, the daughter of William and Rowena (Meade) Gilbert. She grew up in Seneca and graduated from Seneca High School. Olive was united in marriage to Gerald Murray on November 27, 1954 in Seneca, Kansas. The couple lived in York where she and Jerry owned and operated Jerrys Shoe Service. They moved to Clarkdale, Arizona where they enjoyed 13 years of their retirement. In 2005 they moved to Shelton to be closer to family. Olive was a member of St. Josephs Catholic Church in York for 35 years and Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Shelton for the last 7 years. She loved to sew for herself and others. Olive also had a green thumb for growing plants and flowers. Her family get-togethers were a great joy to her. Olive is survived by her husband Gerald Murray of Shelton, son John and wife Dana of Goodland, Kansas, daughters Kay and husband Cary Epp of Minden and Brenda and husband Dave Austin of Shelton, grandchildren Jessica (Brandon) Hassler of Omaha, Travis (Monica) Epp of Kearney, Abby Murray of Willows California, Emily (Brock) Lohr of Lincoln, David & Matthew Murray of Goodland, Cory & Jarrett Austin of Shelton, and Great Grandchildren Kelsey & McKenna Hassler, Rileigh Epp & Copper Lohr. Olive was preceded in death by her parents, a grandson Jeffrey Drapal, brother Norman Gilbert and sister Eula Schultz.
