Pablo R. Ruiz

Pablo R. Ruiz, 76, of Shelton died Thursday, September 19, 2013 at Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney. Services will be at 10:30 am on Monday, September 23, 2013 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Shelton with Rev. James Janovec officiating. Burial will be at the Shelton Cemetery. Visitation will be on Sunday from 5 pm to 7 pm with a 7 pm Rosary service at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. In lieu of flowers memorials are suggested to Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Shelton and or the American Diabetes Foundation. Apfel Funeral Home is caring for the family. Pablo R. Ruiz was born on January 15, 1937 in Coleman, TX, the son of Guadalupe and Consuela (Rendon) Ruiz. He grew up in the Slaton, TX area, attending school there. Pablo was united in marriage to Juanita Trevino on March 31, 1954 in Slaton, TX. The couple lived in Slaton where he worked at Farmers Coop. The couple moved to Shelton in 1966 and Pablo worked at the Ordinance Plant in Alda for three years. Pablo then began working for the Union Pacific Rail Road where he worked until his retirement in May of 2000. Pablo was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Shelton. He enjoyed woodworking, tinkering and building things in his garage, gardening, but especially time with his family and grandchildren. Pablo is survived by his wife Juanita of Shelton, three daughters and sons-in-law; Carmen and Tino Salinas of Olathe, KS, Crestina and Roger Ruyle of Shelton and Gloria and Hank Britt of Olathe, KS, seven grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, five brothers; Benito Ruiz of Slaton, TX, Steve Ruiz of Slaton, TX, Jesse Ruiz of Buffalo, TX, Tony Ruiz of Lubbock, TX, and Lupe Ruiz of Slaton, TX, four sisters; Maria Leyva of Slaton, TX, Josie Valdez of Granbury, TX, Theresa Guerra of Slaton, TX, and Sarah Gonzalez of Slaton, TX.
