Patthana "Ting" Manivong

Patthana “Ting” Manivong, 50, of Grand Island died Thursday, June 14, 2018, at CHI St. Francis Medical Center. Services will be 1:00 PM Saturday, June 16, 2018, at Apfel Funeral Home with the Buddist monks officiating. Visitation hours will be 4-7 PM Friday at the funeral home. Patthana “Ting” was born on March 2, 1968, in Vientiane, Laos to Heuang and Khiene (Phetyim) Manivong. He grew up in Laos and moved with this family to Memphis, TN, in February of 1981. In 1982, the family settled in Alda. Ting later made Grand Island his home.



On January 1, 1995, Ting was united in marriage to Thonglam Sombounsouk in Grand Island. The couple lived in Grand Island where he worked as a welder at Case New Holland for over 20 years. Ting enjoyed soccer, playing drums in a band, watching horse racing, and especially going fishing.



Ting is survived by his wife: Thonglam, children: Konsavanh “Kon”, Panida; siblings and their spouses: Somchay, Kongmany, Vilavanh, Khomsanh, Somchit, Somkith, Vatthana, Phanomphone all of Grand Island; and many nieces and nephews.



He was preceded in death by his parents, and two siblings.
