Paul W. Iden

Kenesaw resident, Paul W. Iden Sr., 91, passed away at the Bethany Home in Minden on January 4, 2017.

Services will be Wednesday, January 11, 2017 at 10:30 am at St. Pauls Lutheran Church, Kenesaw, with Rev. Paul Duffy officiating. Burial will be in the Kenesaw Cemetery, Kenesaw. Visitation will be on Tuesday, January 10, 2017 from 4 pm to 7 pm at the Apfel Funeral Home, Kenesaw. Condolences may be sent to the family from www.apfelfuneralhome.com. Apfel Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Memorials may be given to the American Legion in Gregory, SD or the Alzheimers Association.

Paul was born August 2, 1925 to Edward and Ellen (Ludwig) Iden in Burke, SD. He graduated from Gregory High School in 1943. Shortly after graduating from high school Paul enlisted in the United States Navy. The Navy sent him to the Hastings Ammunition Depot and then he was assigned to the U.S.S Cabot. Paul was honorably discharged in 1946. He moved back to South Dakota and married Frieda Stellwag on June 2, 1948. Together they moved to Gardena, California in 1957. Paul owned Pauls Body Works, an auto body and paint shop. He retired in 1980. They moved to Kenesaw, Nebraska in 2009.

Paul loved Elk and pheasant hunting. He also enjoyed fishing, boating, playing darts, and pool. He loved anything out doors, recreational, and having fun. He owned an airplane, enjoyed recreational flying, and was a member of the Civil Air Patrol.

He was a member of St. Pauls Lutheran Church, Kenesaw, the American Legion #488 in Gregory, SD, and the Kenesaw Senior Association.



He was preceded in death by, his parents, 2 brothers, Bernen Iden and Ruben Iden, 1 granddaughter, Heather Rhodes. 1 great granddaughter, Violet Olson, several aunts, uncles, and cousins.

He is survived by his wife, Frieda of Kenesaw,

3 sons, Dennis (Nancy) Iden of Solvang, CA, Douglas (Cheryl) Iden of Knoxville, TN and Paul Jr. (Bridgette) Iden of Redondo Beach, CA. 3 daughters, Pamela Rhodes of Lincoln, CA, Patricia (Peter) Stoffers of Anthem, AZ and Paulette (Glen) Kuehn of Kenesaw. 19 Grandchildren, Thomas Iden, Stephanie Buchan, Natalie Iden, Kevin Iden, Jonathan Iden, Sarah Iden, Matthew Iden, Michael Iden, Jason Rhodes, Christian Stoffers, Timothy Stoffers, Wesley Iden, Mallory Robertson, Troy Worth, Mitchell Worth, Brittany Worth, Courtney Kuehn, Jessica Kuehn and 18 Great Grandchildren.
