At our Alberding-Wilson Funeral Home Location, Harvard, NE. Harvard resident, Phyllis Elaine (Shear) Bieck, 95, passed away Sunday, October 4, 2009 at the Harvard Rest Haven, Harvard, NE. Her celebration of Life will be Monday, October 12, 2009 at 10:30 AM at the Harvard United Church of Christ, Harvard, NE with Dave Johnson officiating. Burial will be in the Harvard Cemetery, Harvard, NE. Visitation will be Sunday, October 11, 2009 from 12 noon to 9 PM at the Alberding-Wilson Funeral Home, Harvard, NE. Condolences may be sent to the family from www.brandwilson.com. Phyllis was born July 17, 1914 to Clyde and Elsie (Craney) Shear in Peabody, Kansas. She graduated from the Bradshaw High School and worked at the dime store in York and the telephone office in Hastings, NE. She married Edie Volz on September 12, 1938; he passed away September 18, 1940. On February 14, 1946 she married Alfred John Beick, he passed away October 6, 1985. Phyllis and Al were loyal Nebraska Football Fans. Phyllis had many joys in life that she loved. She was a member of the Harvard United Church of Christ, Harvard, NE and was a leader for the youth group, held many offices in the church, and baked many pies for their various projects. She was very active for the Republican Party, the Cancer Society and the Red Cross. Phyllis loved her flower and vegetable gardens and she raised beautiful peonies and canned many quarts of vegetables and fruits from their garden and trees. She is survived by her sister-in-law, Lorene Shear, nieces Connie Bussinger and husband Erny and Bonnie Slaymaker all of Scottsbluff, NE. niece, Julie Aksendahl of Montana and many other nieces and nephews, and great nieces and nephews on both her side and her husbands sides. She was preceded in death by her parents, 2 husbands, Edie and Alfred, 2 brothers, Clyde and wife Fern and Kenneth Shear, and 1 sister Arlyss Brooks and husband Bob. Memorials may be given to the Harvard United Church of Christ, or the Harvard Rest Haven, both in Harvard, NE.
