Phyllis L Witt

Kenesaw resident, Phyllis L. Witt, 95, passed away, Tuesday, September 18, 2018 at her home.



Services will be Monday, September 24, 2018 at 10 am at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Kenesaw with Father Adam Sughroue officiating. Burial will be in the Kenesaw Cemetery, Kenesaw. Visitation will be one hour prior to service time at the church. Apfel Funeral Home, Kenesaw is in care of the family. Condolences may be sent to www.apfelfuneralhome.com.



Memorials may be given to the family or Start Over Rover, Hastings.



Phyllis was born August 2, 1923 to Joseph and Bernice (Reber) Shay on a farm in Lowell, NE. She graduated from the Kenesaw High School. She married William Witt Jr. on February 1, 1945 in Smith Center, KS, William passed away February 18, 2010.



Phyllis was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Kenesaw. She was a homemaker and enjoyed her grandchildren and spending time with her neighbors. She enjoyed flowers, sewing and pets.



She is survived by one daughter, Sherry (Mike) Deterding of Omaha, two sons, James Witt of Houston, TX and Robert Witt, one son-in-law, David LaBrie, 9 grandchildren, Kimberly Favinger, Jennifer Madsen, Stacey (Lonnie) Deterding Graver, Shaun (Mike) Sila, Deana (Paul) Reilly, Mark (Mandy) Deterding, Ryan (Lindsey) Deterding, Haley (Luke) McKee, Tiereny (Curtis) Schneberger, 23 great grandchildren, two sisters, Betty Ground and Bonita (Mel) Harper, one sister-in-law, LaNora Shay and several nieces, nephews and friends.



She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, William, daughter, Sandra LaBrie, brother, Melvin Shay and two brothers-in-law.
