Phyllis Manolidis, 94, of Grand Island, Nebraska, passed away on November 5, 2017 at Lakeview Golden Living Center in Grand Island surrounded by her family.
Memorial services will be at 10:30 A.M. Thursday, November 16, 2017, at Trinity United Methodist Church. The Rev. Kelly Karges will officiate. Inurnment will be in Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery.
Memorials are suggested to the family to be designated at a later date.

Phyllis, the daughter of Maureen and Roy Boroff, was born May 25, 1923 in Doniphan, Nebraska, but grew up in Alda. After graduating from Alda High School, Phyllis worked driving a mail truck at the Army Ammunition Depot during WWII and lived in Grand Island. It was then she met and married Paul Manolidis from Elkins, West Virginia who was stationed in Grand Island with the Army Air Corps.
After marrying, Phyllis worked as a cook at a number of restaurants including Top Hat, Bosselman and Eatons, Conoco Caf, and Brandies. She then began working in the housewares department at Younkers where she worked for 18 years prior to retiring.
After retiring, Phyllis volunteered teaching English as a second language and remained active in her church circle. She loved fishing, flowers, birds and she also enjoyed painting. She spent a lot of time with her sister Barb Karle and enjoyed her lunch bunch. Her special friend Sharon Manning and she spent countless hours together when she moved to Lebensraum and later to the nursing home. Her quick wit and loving personality made her many friends throughout her life.
Her special joy came from spending time with her children, grandchildren, and her great-grandchildren.
Phyllis was a member of the United Methodist Women at Trinity United Methodist Church.
Left to cherish her memory are two sons, Terry (Jo) Manolidis and Steve (Linda) Manolidis of Grand Island; daughter Jill (Steve) Collen of Sheldon, Iowa, along with four grandchildren: Braden (Trisha) Manolidis, Mallory Manolidis, Christopher (Brie) Collen, and Nicholas (Jaime) Collen, three great-grandchildren, and nieces and nephews.
Phyllis was preceded in death by her husband, Paul, sister Gladys Kozinski, sister and brother-in-law, Barb and Pete Karle, and two infant grandchildren.
