Hastings resident, Raymond M. Pohl, 87, passed away Thursday, March 22, 2012 at Perkin Pavilion, Good Samaritan Society, Hastings-Village. Rosary will be Wednesday, March 28, 2012 at 10:30 am at St. Michaels Catholic Church, Hastings, NE with Father Michael Houlihan officiating. Mass of Christian burial will be Wednesday, March 28, 2012 at 11:00 am at St. Michaels Catholic Church, Hastings, NE with Father Michael Houlihan officiating. Private family burial will be held following the services. There will be no visitation. Condolences may be sent to the family from www.brandwilson.com. Memorials may be given to St. Michaels Catholic Church, Hastings, NE. Raymond was born September 8, 1924 to Alexander and Emma (Brym) Pohl, in David City, NE. He graduated from the David City High School in David City, NE. He served in the United States Army Air Corps from June 24, 1943 to March 1, 1946 as a Staff Sergeant. He married Norma J.Pelan on June 29, 1948. They moved to Hastings, NE from Columbus in 1971. He worked as a lead Communication Tech for the Nebraska Public Power District in Hastings, NE. He was a member of St. Michaels Catholic Church, the Amateur Radio Club and the Knights of Columbus all of Hastings, NE He enjoyed shooting archery and taking care of his flower garden. He is survived by his wife Norma, of Hastings, NE, one son Scott and wife Mary of Omaha, NE, and one daughter Sue Merryfield and husband Dave of Virginia Beach, VA, 4 Grandchildren, Jessica, Alex, Heather, and Joshua, and one brother Monsignor Daniel Pohl of Lincoln, NE. He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister Dorothy.
