Hastings resident, Richard Glen Hastings, 75, died Saturday, January 13, 2007 at his home, 715 E. B Street. Services will be Saturday, January 20, 2007 at 10 AM at All Saints Chapel, Good Samaritan Village, Hastings, NE with the Rev. Robert E. Sachs officiating. Burial will be at Fort McPhearsen, Maxwell, NE a later date. Visitation will be Thursday, January 18, 2007 from 9 AM to 5 PM, and Friday, January 19, 2007 from 9 AM to 9 PM at the Brand-Wilson Funeral Home and one hour prior to services at the chapel. Mr. Hastings was born, September 24, 1931 to Albert A. and Alyce Marie (Jollife) Hastings, in North Platte, NE. He married Ruth Crandell June 21, 1952 in Burr Oak, Kansas. He was in the United States Marine Corps and served during the Korean Conflict, November 9, 1948 to December 11, 1951. He was a Train Conductor for the Northern Pacific Rail Road. He has been a Hastings resident since 2000, coming from Tacoma, Washington. He was a member of the V.F.W., American Legion, Disabled American Vet, and the Eagles, all of Hastings, NE. He volunteered for Meals on Wheels. He is survived by, is wife Ruth, of Hastings, 2 sons, Terry Lynn Hastings, of Enumclaw, Washington, and Ronald Lee Hastings, of Bern, Kansas, 6 grandchildren, 8 Great Grandchildren, 1 sister Mary Ellen Barnes of Grand Island, NE, and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by 2 sons, 1 grandson, 2 sisters, 1 brother, 1 half brother , 2 step-brothers, and 1 step sister. Memorials may be given to the family.
