Richard (Mike) Michael Cooper, 59 of Grand Island, died Friday, 16, 2015 after a long courageous battle with Cancer. Richards sister was his primary care giver during his fight, as he chose to die in the comfort of his home.
Graveside service will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, January 24, 2015 at Grand Island City Cemetery. There will be a luncheon immediately following the graveside at the Apfel Funeral Home, Grand Island. Memorials are suggested to the family. Richards wishes were to be cremated. Richard expressed numerous times that he wanted his loved ones to celebrate his life with laughter instead of tears.
Richard was born December 18, 1955 in Grand Island, Nebraska the son of Walter R. & Wreatha A. (Clement) Cooper. Richard graduated from Chadron, Nebraska Job Corps and was a long time member of the Sons of the American Legion #53.
Richard loved life and enjoyed being with friends and family. Richard had an amazing voice and sang Kareoke in his free time. Richard was a funny man and known for his jokes and making people laugh. One of Richardss passions was Security Work.
Those left to cherish his memory include his brothers & sisters-in-law: Mark R. Copper of Arizona, Roger & Tracy Cooper of St, Libory and Rod & Jamy Cooper of Wood River, sister & brother-in-law, Laura & Mario Molina, his son, Michael & family, his ex-wife and room mate, Pam Cooper, his close special friend, Marlene Johnson and his many grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles.
Richard was preceded in death by his mother & father, Wreatha (Clement) and Walter Cooper and his grandparents.
