Robbie J. Ackles

Hastings resident, Robbie J. Ackles, 88, passed away Monday, July 19, 2010 at the Mary Lanning Memorial Hospital, Hastings, NE. Services will be Thursday, July 22, 2010 at 10:30 am at the First United Methodist Church in Hastings, NE with the Rev. Alan Davis officiating. Burial will be in Parkview Cemetery, Hastings; NE. Book signing will be Tuesday, July 20, 2010, 12 noon to 9 pm and Wednesday, July 21, 2010 from 9 am to 6 pm at the Brand-Wilson Funeral Home, Hastings, NE and one hour prior to service time at the church. Condolences may be sent to the family from www.brandwilson.com. Robbie was born June 13, 1922 to A. B. and Lena L. (Moon) Hassell in Rose Bud, AR. She graduated from Rose Bud High School in Rose Bud, AR in 1940 and then attended 2 years of college. She married Robert D. Ackles on August 7, 1943, in Los Angeles, CA; he passed away May 25, 1996. They moved to Hastings, NE in 1946 coming from Rose Bud, AR. She worked for the Nash-Finch Company for 30 years in the meat department. Robbie was a people person and had many friends. She is survived by 2 sons, Bill Ackles and wife Jann, and Tom Ackles and wife Linda,1 daughter, Joanie Colon and husband Tony, all of Hastings, NE. 6 grandchildren, Crystal Petzoldt and husband Terry, Michelle Brotzki and husband Tim, Melissa Larka and husband Jeff, Amber Schultz and husband Jamy, Jason Ackles and wife Nicole and Justin Colon and wife Sherry, 11 great grandchildren, and 1 great great granddaughter. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband Robert, 3 sisters and 4 brothers. Memorials may be given to First United Methodist Church, Hastings, NE or to the family's choice.
