Robert Allen Dawkins

Robert A. Dawkins, 84, of Grand Island, NE died on Saturday, August 17, 2024, at the Good Samaritan Society – St. John’s in Kearney, NE. Burial of cremated remains will be at a later date at the Nebraska Veterans Cemetery at Grand Island. Memorials are suggested to the family to be designated at a later date.

He was born on September 3, 1939, at St. Edward, NE to Willis and Alma (Wifenbach) Dawkins. He grew up in Phillips, NE where he would also receive his education. Robert entered the Army on March 3, 1958, and served during the Korean War. He was honorably discharged on March 9, 1960. 

Robert was united in marriage to Lorreta (Minor) Dawkins at North Platte, NE where they resided for 23 years before moving to Grand Island, NE. He was employed by U-Save Food Stores as a meat cutter for several years until his retirement in 2001. 

He is survived by his son, Robert Dawkins of Fullerton, NE; daughters: Sandra (Dale) Price of Hastings, NE and Susan (Brian) Gardner of Sidney, IA; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and brothers and sisters in-law. 

Robert is preceded in death by his wife; parents; son, Rex Dawkins; brothers: Duane and Willis Dawkins; and sisters: Deloris Reed and Donna Kedrar.
