Robert "Jake" Charles Kennedy

Hastings resident, Robert “Jake” Charles Kennedy, 85, passed away, Sunday, September 29, 2019 at his home.



Graveside memorial service will 10:00 AM, June 28, 2021 at Parkview Cemetery with Military Rites.



Memorials may be given to the family.



Jake was born December 25, 1933 to Roy and Opal (Kingery) Kennedy in Hastings, NE. He attended District 15 school and Hastings public schools. He married Wilma J. Lofing on June 28, 1953, Wilma passed away recently, September 20, 2019. Jake first worked for Woodwards Disposal with his father, then worked at the Navel Ammunition Depot from 1950 to 1956. He served in the United States Army in Germany, from April 4, 1956 to May 2, 1958, he was a sharpshooter. He worked 40 plus years at Consolidated Concrete in Hastings.



Jake loved Nascar and dirt track racing, was a great mechanic he could repair anything from race cars to lawnmowers, he also enjoyed playing guitar in a band with his brothers. Jake had a great sense of humor, he was always joking around and playing jokes on his family and friends.



He is survived by his son, Russell of Hastings, daughter, Christy (Carlin) Engert of Aurora, granddaughter, Miranda (Nate) Wagner and great grandson, Andrew Wagner and one great granddaughter Emma Wagner of Cottonwood, AZ, two brothers, Milt (Debbie) Kennedy and Dean Kennedy and one sister, Dorothy Klien all of Hastings.



He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Wilma; 5 sisters, Virginia, Gwen, Opal, Lela and Linda; and 4 brothers, Roy Jr, Norman, Tim and Ray.
