Robert L. Shriner

March 21, 1930 — August 9, 2015

Robert Lee Shriner Sr. 85 of Alda took his last breath of life on August 9, 2015 with his family by his side.

Services will be Wednesday August 12, 2015 at 3:00 P.M. at Apfel Funeral Home in Grand Island with family & friends visitation two hours prior to the service.

Bob was born March 21, 1930 to Pearl and Emma (Halhweg) Shriner in Wood River Nebraska.

Those left to cherish are his wife, Luella of Alda. Children Christine Fitzsimons (Robert) of St. Paul, Tamie Shriner of Grand Island, Robert Shriner Jr. (Dee Ann) of Grand Island, Cheri Ramirez (Antonio) of Columbus, Janet Garrison (Tim) of Alda, Lisa Ortiz (Manuel Sr.) of Columbus, David Shriner of Chapman. Fourteen Grand Children, Adrianna Fitzsimons, Michael Shriner, Valerie Woodard, Justin Garver, Eric Shriner, Jeremy Shriner, Brittany Shriner, Marina Flores, Rojelio Ramirez, Anthony Ramirez, Jamie Garrison, Manuel Ortiz Jr., Juan Oritz, and Jose Ortiz. He also had twelve Great Grand Children.

Robert is preceded in death by and infant son Randy Richard Shriner, mother and father, Jeane Menard (sister) Shirley Ewoldt (sister) Gerald Shriner, Danny Shriner, Glenn Shriner, Ralph Shriner (brothers).

He grew up in the Wood River, Alda, Chapman area and attended several country schools. He entered the U.S. Marine Corps December 26, 1951 through November 18, 1954 where was stationed at Pearl Harbor during the Korean War.

September 18, 1960 Robert married Luella (Dubbs) Shriner at the Presbyterian Church in Wood River. They were married almost 55 years. To this union 8 children were born.

Bob worked at the Ordinance plant and alpha mill for several years before working at Agriculture Services in Grand Island were he was employed for 32 years until he retired November 10, 2005.

He enjoyed hog farming, watching WWF wrestling, fishing, yard work, NASCAR and just spending time with his family.
