Hastings resident, Robert R. Dinnell, 93, passed away Saturday, January 23, 2016, at his home.
Services are Friday, January 29, 2016 at 10:30 am at the 1st Baptist Church in Hastings with Rev. Larry Harvey and Rev. Tom Murray officiating. Burial will be in Parkview Cemetery with military rites by the Nebraska Army Honor Guard. Visitation will be Thursday, January 28, 2016 from 5 pm to 8 pm at the Apfel Funeral Home, Hastings. Arrangements by the Apfel Funeral Home, Hastings. Condolences may be sent to the family from www.apfelfuneralhome.com.

Robert was born May 7, 1922 to Fred William and Margaret Belle (Attwater) Dinnell in McCook, NE. He graduated from Hastings Public Schools. He served in the United States Army during World War II and was a Captain in the National Guards for a total combined service of 34 years. He married Joyce Daniels on August 2, 1947 at the 1st Baptist Church in Hastings, NE. He was a letter carrier with the Hastings Post Office for 34 years.
He was a member of the 1st Baptist Church in Hastings and was a Deacon at the church. He was a Cub and Boy Scout Leader and an YMCA Indian guide. A member of the Red Cross Disaster Relief, the National Assoc of Letter Carriers and the National Assoc of Retired Federal Employees.
Robert enjoyed working in the yard and garden.
He is survived by his wife, Joyce, two daughters, Barb (Kent) Vogt and Bev and (Steve) Kelsey, two sons, Ken (Yi) Dinnell all of Hastings, NE, Kim (Sharon) Dinnell of Modesto, CA, 9 grandchildren, Raleigh (Tracey) Kelsey, Paul Kelsey, Meghan Turner , Chaz Kelsey, Melissa Uehling, Tad (Maria) Dinnell, Tami (Mick) Kucera, Jennica Dinnell, Cameron Dinnell, McKenna Dinnell, 17 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, 3 sisters and 3 brothers.
