Hastings resident, Robert W. Johnson, 72, passed away Tuesday, November 28, 2017 at the Veterans Hospital in Grand Island after a long battle of cancer.

Services will be Saturday, December 2, 2017 at 10am at the First Congregational Church of Christ with Pastor Jessica Palys officiating. Burial will be at a later date. Robertss wishes were to be cremated. Book signing will be Friday, December 1, 2017 from 5-8pm at Apfel Funeral Home Chapel, Hastings; NE. Apfel Funeral Home is in care of the family. Memorials may be given to First Congregational Church of Christ.

Robert was born June 28, 1945 to Wilford and Eleanor (Rosenau) Johnson in Hastings, Nebraska. He graduated from Hastings High School in 1963. Robert served in the United States Air National Guard from August 23, 1965 to August 22, 1971. He married Jeneane Krull on June 15, 1968. Robert worked as an Auto body man and painter at US Meat Animal Research Center, Clay Center, NE.

He enjoyed working on cars. Robertss first love was his 1934 Hudson; that is currently on display at the Classic Car Collection Museum in Kearney, NE. He enjoyed playing pool, and attending Hudson car shows. Robert was a dedicated father and grandfather. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.

He is survived by wife, Jeneane (Krull) Johnson of Hastings, Son, Tom (Amanda) Johnson of Hastings, Grandchildren; Zachery (Jessica) Johnson, of Hastings, Kevin Johnson of Fairfield, Taidyn Johnson of Hastings, Dakotah Johnson of Hastings, Great-grandchildren; Taylor Johnson, Kristi Moreno, and Korra Moreno. Brother, Melvin (Beverly) Johnson of Hastings, Sister; Carolyn and the late Robert Henry of North Platte, Brother-in-laws; Gayle (Connie) Krull of Aurora; Dave (Sun) Krull of Los Cruces, NM. Sister-in-law Carol (Max) Kelley of Sundance, WY. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews and several close family friends.

Robert is preceded in death by his parents; Wilford and Eleanor Johnson.
