Rodney "Rude Dog" D. Beckman

November 16, 1962 — April 27, 2014

Rodney D. Beckman Rude Dog, 51, of Marquette died Sunday, April 27, 2014, from injuries sustained in a traffic accident.



Funeral services will be at 2:00 P.M. Thursday at the Apfel Funeral Home in Grand Island. Burial will be in Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery.



Family will greet friends from 4 to 7 P.M. Wednesday at the Apfel Funeral Home.



Rodney Dean Beckman was born November 16, 1962, at Grand Island to Rodney Charles and Doris Louise (Sandquist) Beckman. He grew up in Chapman and graduated from Grand Island Northwest High School in 1980.



In his youth, Rod was involved with Golden Gloves boxing. He brought home numerous trophies over the 10 plus years he participated.



He married Kimberly L. Jackson on May 24, 1995. Rod had two children from his first marriage and he and Kim have one son and one daughter together.



Rod enjoyed sitting by the fire at night, motorcycles and ATVs, gardening and tinkering. He could make anything into something, and something could always be used someday. He especially enjoyed time spent with his children and going to the river to fish. He had a kind heart and would help anyone if he could, and anyone who knew him, usually loved him.



Rod studied heating and cooling technology and Central Community College and graduated from the program in May 2013. He was employed with Burtles Heating and Air Conditioning, where he enjoyed going to work every day.



Survivors include his wife, Kimberly L. Beckman of Marquette; two sons, Rodney C. Beckman of Omaha and Harley D. Beckman of Marquette; two daughters, Tiffany N. Beckman of Norfolk and Heather L. Beckman of Marquette; two brothers Robert Beckman and friend of Lincoln, and Randy and Debbie Beckman of Marquette; three brothers-in-law; four sisters-in-law; father -in-law & mother -in-law, Wayne and Virginia Jackson of Marquette; and numerous nieces and nephews.



He was preceded in death by his father, Rodney C. Beckman and mother, Doris L. Michalski.



Memorials are suggested to the family.



A memorial ride will be held on Saturday, May 10, 2014, starting at 1:00 P.M. in downtown Marquette.
