Roger Jensen

September 15, 1938 — January 31, 2018

Roger E. Jensen, 79, of Grand Island died January 31, 2018, at Park Place Rehabilitation Care Center in Grand Island. Funeral service will be 10:00 AM Saturday, February 3, 2018, at GI Evangelical Free Church. The Reverend Dan Brenton will officiate. Burial will be at Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5-7 PM Friday at Apfel Funeral Home. Memorials are suggested to the Gideons or the GI E-Free Church.



Roger Eugene was born September 15, 1938, in St. Paul, NE, to Elmer and Lena (Robinson) Jensen. He grew up in Cushing, NE. He attended and graduated from Palmer High School in 1956.



On July 19, 1959, he was united in marriage to Connie Spilger in St. Paul, NE. The couple resided in the Grand Island area. In 1957, he began working as a lineman for Southern Nebraska Power. In 1998, he retired as an Area Operations Manager. Then he worked part time maintenance at the church from 2000-2009.



Roger was a member of the GI E-Free Church and Gideons International. He enjoyed deer hunting, woodworking, and handyman projects for anyone who asked. He also enjoyed attending his children and grandchildrens events.



Survivors include: wife: Connie Jensen of Grand Island; children: Tim (Lori) Jensen of Grand Island, Mark (Beth) Jensen of Grand Island, Melissa (Lonny) Ostrander of Juniata; grandchildren: Ruth (Julio) Cruz, Ranae Dymek, Joel Jensen, Rachel (Bentley) Brandquist, Sarah (Klint) Nielsen, Josh Jensen, Blake (Megan) Ostrander, Grant (Hanna) Ostrander, Reid Ostrander, Seth Ostrander; great grandchildren: Payten, Daniel, Noah, Elli, Liliana, Ivy, Luke, and another due soon; nephews: Francis (Margaret) Keene and Terry (Leialoha) Keene; brothers and sisters-in-law, and numerous other family and friends.

Roger was preceded in death by his parents; sister: Dorothy (Lin) Keene; nephews: Ken and Dan Keene
