Roger L. Keith

Roger L. Keith, 73, of Holstein, NE died Saturday October 6, 2018 at Mary Lanning HealthCare in Hastings.



Services will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday October 13, 2018 at Apfel Funeral Home in Grand Island with the Rev. Beverly Hieb officiating. There will be no visitation. Inurnment will be at Grand Island City Cemetery with military rites. Apfel Funeral Home of Grand Island is in care of the family. Memorials are suggested to the family for later designation.



Roger was born September 15, 1945 in Grand Island, the son of Albert F. and Frances Mae (Sowl) Keith. He grew up in Grand Island, receiving his education and graduating from Grand Island Senior High School with the class of 1963. In 1965 he joined to the United States Army serving in Germany during the Vietnam war and was honorably discharged in 1968. Roger started collecting antiques at the age of 14 and during his high school career, he worked in an antique shop in Grand Island. Upon graduation, he bought the antique shop and re-named it “Keith’s Red Lamp Antiques”. He and David traveled all over the Midwest doing antique shows while he still owned his shop. He owned Keith’s Red Lamp Antiques until 2003, and officially retired in 2004. He continued his antique business, dealing and collecting while also working as a night auditor at the Mid-Town Holiday Inn in Grand Island, where he met his husband, David in 1977. On September 22, 2015, Roger and David were married in Pea Ridge, Arkansas, living in Holstein since 2004.

Among his many favorite collector items, he especially liked stamps and brides basket. Roger was a past member of the Nebraska Antiques Dealers Association.



Those left to cherish his memory include his husband, David Landis; two nephews, Kirk Keith and Mark Keith; niece, Sally Keith; one great niece, Miranda Keith; three great great nephews, Jayden; Breckin and Landyn and one great great niece Ellie.



Roger was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Marvin Keith, and one niece, Kim Keith and one great niece Jenni.
