Rollie Stroh, 88, of Grand Island died Saturday, February 9, 2019 at Tiffany Square in Grand Island. Funeral service will be 11 AM Wednesday, February 13, 2019, at Apfel Funeral Home with Rev. Kelly Karges officiating. Burial will follow in the Grand Island City Cemetery with military honors. Visitation will be 1 hour prior to the service. Rollie was born on November 5, 1930 in Grand Island, Nebraska to Henry and Elizabeth (Benner) Stroh. He grew up in Grand Island and received his education at Grand Island Senior High, graduating in 1948. Rollie entered the United States Army in 1951 and served until 1953. He was united in marriage to Dorothy Steffen on September 9, 1951 in Grand Island, NE. He and Dorothy remained in Grand Island and raised their family. Rollie and Dorothy were happily married for 61 years.
He founded Rollie's Studio in 1957 and photographed many weddings and portraits within the community until 1967. In 1967 he moved to Chief Industries to become the advertising director. As the director, he organized and led incentive trips all over the world. He crossed the Atlantic Ocean 48 times and the Pacific Ocean 9 times. He completed his fulfilling career in 2000 as Senior Vice President.
Rollie loved to travel the world. He had many hobbies including golfing, hunting, gardening, and wood working. He belonged to American Legion Post No. 53, Master Mason Lodge No. 33, Tenama Shiners, Platt Duetsche, and Scottish Rite of Freemasonry. Rollie will always be rememered, in spirit and in memory, as his love will live on forever.
Rollie is survived by his son Steve Stroh of Grand Island, NE; daughter, Lisa Sadil of Omaha, NE; sister, Lorraine Bacon of Grand Island, NE; brother-in-law Donald Steffen of Bradenton, FL; grandchildren: Sam Stroh (Molly) of Kansas City, MO; Sara Mortensen of Omaha, NE; Ryan Sadil (Taryn) of Omaha, NE; Heather Stroh of Omaha, NE; Ally Sadil of Omaha, NE; Andy Stroh of Aliso Viejo, CA; and great-grandchildren: Matthew, Mia, Ella, Mason, Sammy, Avery, Rylee, and Tucker.
Rollie was preceded in death by his parents, wife: Dorothy, brother: Raymond (Bud) Stroh, and sister: Evelyn (Stroh) Hurley.
