Roma Jean White

Roma J. White, 82 of Grand Island, died Monday, May 01, 2017 at Wedgewood Care Center in Grand Island.



Services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, May 5, 2017 at Apfel Funeral Home in Grand Island with Derek Apfel officiating. Burial will be in Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery in Grand Island. Visitation hours will be 5-7:30 p.m. Thursday, May 4, 2017 at Apfel Funeral Home. Memorials are suggested to the family. Apfel Funeral Home is caring for the family.



Roma Jean was born, September 18, 1934 at Wood River, Nebraska the daughter o f Willis & Helen (Wiese) McAhren. She received her education from Grand Island Senior High graduating with the class of 1952.



She was united in marriage to Jack White on June 5, 1955 in Grand Island, NE. The couple made their home in Grand Island where she was a long distance operator supervisor for AT&T Telephone Company for 27 years, retiring in 1988. Jack preceded her in death, September 4, 2007.



Roma was a member of the First Baptist Church, serving as a Sunday school and Vacation Bible School Teacher, Girl Scout Leader, member of the YMCA and Telephone Pioneers. She enjoyed sewing, reading, camping and traveling. She was a very loving & caring wife, mother, and grandmother. Spending time with her family gave her the greatest enjoyment.



Those left to cherish her memory include, three daughters & sons-in-law, Pamela Sindelar of Grand Island, Carol & Rick Eucker of Norfolk, Nebraska, Karen & John Tollinger of Omaha, Nebraska; 10 grandchildren, Ryan & Dara Sindelar, Courtney Sindelar, Kody Sindelar, Jessica & Jason Bauer, J.R. & Molly Eucker, Josh Eucker, Jade Eucker & Travis Chambers, Alex Tollinger, Ben Tollinger, & Sam Tollinger; 9 great-grandkids, Wyatt, Payton, Braelyn, Rylen, Maclin, Mya, Maddox, Reed, sister, Darolyn McDonald of Albion, Nebraska.



She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Jack White; infant son, Steven Craig White; son-in-law, Randy Sindelar; and brother, Gary McAhren.
