Roman E. Hines

Former Kenesaw resident, Roman E. Hines, 88 passed away Saturday, March 10, 2012 at Mary Lanning Memorial HealthCare, Hastings, NE. Services will be Wednesday, March 14, 2012 at 10:30 am at the Brand-Wilson Funeral Home Chapel, Hastings, NE. Burial will be in the Kenesaw Cemetery with military rites by the Hastings and Kenesaw Veterans Service. Visitation will be Tuesday, March 13, 2012 from 12 noon to 9 pm with the family present from 6 pm to 8 pm at the Brand-Wilson Funeral Home, Hastings, NE. Condolences may be sent to the family from www.brandwilson.com. In lieu of flowers memorials may be given to the Kenesaw Senior Center, Kenesaw, NE. Roman was born January 15, 1924 to Warren and Bernice (Regan) Hines in Heartwell, NE. He attended the Mayflower-District #68 grade school and graduated from Hastings High School. He attended Philco Radio and Radar School in Philadelphia in 1942 for six months. He enlisted in the Army Air Corps November 24, 1942 and was honorably discharged February 6, 1946. He married Patricia M. Ryan in Manchester, England on November 18, 1944; she passed away March 8, 1958. They had two daughters. He married Evelyn D. Kent on December 29, 1958 in Kenesaw, NE. He farmed for 43 years retiring in 1989. He was a member of the Kenesaw Legion # 268 in Kenesaw, NE, VFW # 1346, the Order of Cootie, the Elks #159 all in Hastings, NE and the Senior Center in Kenesaw, NE. He loved fishing and hunting. He is survived by his wife Evelyn of Hastings, NE, two daughters, Lana Kirstine and husband David of Juniata, NE, and Gay Bogan of Lincoln, NE, and one step-son, Estil D. Johnson Jr. and wife Mary of California, four grandchildren, Staci, Aaron, Sloane and Colt, two step-grandchildren, Eric and Nick, four great grandchildren and three step-great grandchildren, and one niece Dixie Jennings and husband David of Georgia. He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife Patricia, and one sister Virginia.
