Ronald D. Cook, 71, of Lincoln, formerly of Grand Island died Friday, February 12, 2021, at Bryan West Medical Center in Lincoln.
Funeral services will be at 2:00 PM Friday, February 19th at the Apfel Funeral Home in Grand Island. The Rev. Bev Hieb will officiate. Burial will be in Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 PM on Thursday, February 18th at the Apfel Funeral Home. As per Ron’s wishes, the casket will be closed. Memorials are suggested to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation/Nebraska Chapter or the Make-A-Wish Foundation.
Ronald Dean Cook was born May 5, 1949, at Grand Island, NE to Frederick M. and Levora (Fuehrer) Cook. He graduated from Northwest High School in 1967 and attended one year at Central Nebraska Technological College at Hastings, majoring in auto mechanics.
In September of 1973, Ron began his career as an over the road truck driver. He purchased his own rig in 1990 and became an owner operator. He was employed by several midwestern trucking companies over the years. Ron retired due to failing health.
Survivors include his sisters, Karen (Ernest) Johnson of Hastings, NE, and Judy Hendrickson of Grand Island; several nieces and nephews; and great-nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and two nephews, William Hendrickson and James E. Hendrickson, Jr.
