Ronald D. Ochsner, 72, of Ravenna died Monday, December 14, 2015 at his home in Ravenna, NE. Services will be 10:30 am on Friday, December 18, 2015 at Apfel Funeral Home in Grand Island with the Rev. Lonnie Logan officiating. Burial will be in Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery, Grand Island. Military Honors will be provided by the United Veterans Honors Guard and the United States Marine Corps. Visitation hours will be 5-7 p.m. Thursday, December 17, 2015 at the Apfel Funeral Home Grand Island. Memorials are suggested to the family to be determined later. Ronald D. Ochsner was born November 7, 1943 in Isabel, South Dakota the son of Eugene & Tillie (Ackerman) Ochsner. He grew up near Sutton and Grafton area receiving his education from Sutton graduating with the class of 1962. He entered the United States Marine Corp August 1, 1962 serving during the Vietnam War and was honorable discharged August 24, 1966. During this time, he married Magdeline Midge Schulz in 1965. He returned to Grand Island in 1967 where he was employed with the Grand Island Police Department. He was united in marriage to Gale Jean Findley, February 25, 1972 in Denver, CO. The couple made their home in Aurora, Colorado where he was with the Aurora, CO Police Department for ten years. The couple moved to Alda, Nebraska in June of 1981 where he was with Hall County Sheriff Department for 27 years, retiring in March 2008. Jean preceded him in death November 30, 2012.
He was united in marriage to Sarah Olson, June 27, 2015 in Grand Island, NE. The couple made their home in Ravenna.
He loved spending time with his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren along with gardening, hunting, fishing, the Broncos, Huskers, basketball and NASCAR . He was a long time member of VFW.
Those left to cherish his memory include his very best friend and wife, Sarah Ochsner of Ravenna, three sons & daughters-in-law, Rich Ross of Alda, NE, Ron & Chris Ochsner of North Platte, NE, Todd & Marci Ochsner of Kearney, NE, two daughters, Terry Ochsner Williamson of Alda, NE, Misty Ochsner of Central City, NE, 3 step-children, Austin, Taylor and Eli, g12 grandchildren, two great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and second wife, Jean Ochsner; and two sons, Bobby and Roger Ross; and a son-in-law, Bill Williamson.
