Ron Garcia

Ronald F. Garcia, 83, of Wood River, NE died on Friday, May 3, 2024 at The Cedars at Broadwell.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 AM Thursday, May 9, 2024 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Wood River with Fr. Josh Brown officiating. Burial will follow in the Wood River Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 PM on Wednesday, May 8^th at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Wood River concluding with a Rosary at 7 PM. Ron was born on March 16, 1941 in Los Angeles, CA to Faust and Sarah (Barth) Garcia. He grew up in Los Angeles and received his education from St. Bernards Catholic High School before going to trade school becoming a machinist. On June 9, 1972 he married Mary Olivo at the Abby Chapel in Los Angeles. Afterwards he worked for many different machine shops before becoming an instructor of machining and carpentry for the L.A. Unified School District. The couple moved to Wood River in 1990. 

He was a member of the St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Wood River and he enjoyed all things music; especially jazz.

He is survived by his wife, Mary Garcia; son, Ron Garcia; numerous grandchildren; brother, Robert Garcia; and many nieces, nephews and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, son Christopher Paul Garcia, and his sister, Sandra Garcia.
